Ok, ok…it’s been quite a while since my last update but what can I say!! I’m a full-time working mom and wife with a house to keep, laundry to be done, dinners to be made and most importantly a pumpkin to play with!!!
Well, we made it!!! As of May 20, 2010, our little Evelyn Rose is officially 1 year old!! I can't believe how fast it has gone by! Jay and I just love her so much and feel so blessed that she came into our lives!! Evelyn's birthday week had a slight rough start as she was running a fever anywhere from 101-103 for a few days. She showed no other syptoms of having the flu or some type of other cold. Of course I called the peds office pretty much every day, and every day they told me to keep the fever at bay with Tylenol and keep her in loose clothes. So for a few days there pumpkin couldn't go off to 'school.' A very good friend of ours "Lil' Jen...who was about ready to pop her own pumpkin out...even came over one day to watch her so Jay and I could go to work! By her birtdhay, which was on a Thursday, the fever finally broke and Evelyn was cleared to return to daycare just in time! That morning we made an early stop at Tops to pick up some mini cupcakes for the kids at her daycare so they could all celebrate! When I dropped her off I told her daycare lady "If any of the other Moms ask...I made these cupcakes myself" Kathy replies "Funny, you all have the same recipe!" Too funny!
I was able to sneak out of work a little early and spend a gorgeous day with our little girl. Once Jay got home from work he gave pumpkin her present...a little chariot-style trailer that hooks onto the back of our bikes!! So we took Evelyn on her first bike ride and she is just TOO CUTE in her little (but kinda big) bike helmet...oh well...safety first!!
We rode our bikes down at the river and stopped off at Ole Man River for dinner. Pumpkin is eating anything and everything she can get her hands on (side note; at a differnt place, Jay put a lemon in her mouth...hysterical!! mean daddy!) After dinner we rode back to the car and stopped over Grandma and Grandpa's where pumpkin got presents!! LOTS of clothes and the coolest little tricycle thing that develops with her...I'll start by pushing her on it and eventually when she learns to petal, she'll be all over the place!!! We headed home and pumpkins was pooped!! She was in bed by 7:30 and Jay and I enjoyed the rest of the night as parents of a 1-year old princess!! The next day Nana stopped by to see the 'big girl' and brought more clothes! This girl's wadrobe has doubled in the past week and I have a feeling after her birthday party this Saturday it will probably quadrouple!
We are 3 days away from her big bday party! The decorations have been picked up (it was starting to look like a sea of pink so I threw some green in the mix!) ....the balloons are ordered, the food (pizza and wings) are set and we are expecting a great crowd of friends, family and kiddies to spend what is predicted to be a great Saturday afternoon with us!!
This month has just been so crazy! We have (so far) welcomed 2 new babies into world! Congrats to Amy and Rob on the birth of their son, Cole Robert who was born on May 16th and to Lil Jen and Erik who welcomed Isabelle Taylor on May 24th! Now we are just waiting on Evelyn's cousin, Austin, to arrive! I have a feeling it will be any day...but please just not at pumpkin's party!
No bounce house for Aunt Jenn!!!
I'll get party pics up asap!!
Happy Birthday to our precious pumpkin!! Love you to pieces!

10 Months! The Easter Bunny! And 'New' Ears!!

We’ve been busy little bees over the Tylec household! The pumpkin keeps us on our toes with her ever increased mobility. She’s not walking yet, but boy is she a fast crawler and she just loves to pull herself up (on anything) and stand tall. Since we have glass top tables throughout the living room, this has caused me to think I should buy some stock in Windex as it seems I’m wiping away little hand prints marks left and right!
Evelyn has about 7 teeth now! 3 on the bottom and 4 on the top! Two of them are not all the way through yet so we are dealing with LOTS and LOTS of drool….always fun.
She’s been fighting colds an awful lot too these past couple weeks. Snotty nose, itchy eyes and all that good stuff. We chalk it to the fact that she is in daycare and constantly around other germ-filled children as well as the changing of the seasons. Who knows. Evelyn might have a touch of seasonal allergies like her Mommy.
Her “vocabulary” is also expanding…while it might not be exactly English she is starting to make more sounds and possibly even understand what we are saying to her! Although…she doesn’t seem to like that word ‘no’….whenever I say it, she usually follows with a sweet little smile like she’s some innocent angel….I’m on to you pumpkin!
We did have a ‘big’ milestone over the past couple weeks. Evelyn celebrated her first Easter, but
even more ‘big’…she got her ears pierced! Jay and I took her to the Boulevard Mall to meet the Easter Bunny (who by the way…was HUGE…lol). Pumpkin was not all smiles like she was with Santa…in fact after about 45 seconds on his lap, the cry-face started to surface so we had to choose from the photos that were taken. You can tell her ‘awareness’ is increasing with each day as she is more hesitant around people she doesn’t know, but yet loves to snuggle with her Mommy and Daddy!
So we got the pictures done and then did some shopping in the mall. Evelyn is just so good…she such a Nosy Rosy that she just loves being out and about seeing all the lights, people and stuff!
Well, at the end of our shopping trip we made one final stop – Clarie’s Boutique…the piercing mecca for all Mommy’s of little girls. Jay and I looked over their starter earrings and decided to go with little ‘diamond’ ones (CZ…whatever…she’ll get diamonds soon enough the way she’s got Daddy wrapped around her finger!). So, Jay was the brave one who held her during the ‘event.’ Yes, it was an event…as soon as passer-byers realize what is about to happen they must just stop and gawk…not to mention give the Mommy’s and Daddy’s the evil eye. LOL. Jay was also the holder b/c like any Momma, I just had to get this one video ca
mera. So, they dotted where the earrings would be placed and it was time. Evelyn quenched her head down a little with the first prick and then it was over….screams of mass hysteria and the ‘what are you doing to me’ look was on…Daddy tried to comfort her but there was still one more ear to be pierced! Holy cow….does my little girl have a set of lungs on her! They applied the soothing gel and Daddy scooped her up and within 5 minutes she was FINE people!! And all with these new sparkly ears. Although, we quickly hightailed it out of the mall for fear of continued looks of disapproval, snares and evil-eyes from the ‘on-lookers’…LOL. But first of course, I had to let friends and family know about this huge milestone! Remember that video…yeah, it was on my cell…sent to Nana, Poppa, Grandma, Grandpa, the Aunts, the Uncles and friends…. BAD IDEA…once again we were ‘meanies’ and Evelyn deserved ice cream, money…whatever she wanted. My father told me Christmas was over for me forever…Dear Lord people…we pierced her ears…we didn’t tattoo her!! LOL. After all was said and done, it is agreed that Evelyn…hard to imagine that its possible…looks even more beautiful with her new ears. And I just love watching her sleep on the video monitor because they sparkle when she rolls around…so cute!!
On Easter Sunday, Evelyn enjoyed a basket hunt at my parents house where the Easter Bunny left her some Pajama’s along with the cutest little girl baseball caps and of course a stuffed bunny for her to ‘eat’ and drool all over. Then we were off to Nana and Poppa’s where we had our Easter dinner, during which Evelyn was nice enough to nap so we could all enjoy! Much to her surprise, the Easter Bunny stopped by again and this time set up an egg hunt for her in the living room!!! Eggs filled with puffs, yogurt melts and cookies were ‘as far as the eye could’…well at least for the pumpkin I’m sure that statement is true! She also got more jammies, a cute summer outfit and more toys!! It was a really nice day as a family for her first Easter J (ps…just so we can remember years down the line…Daddy enjoyed his own Easter hunt too with cans of Bud Light hidden throughout the living room…lol!)
The weather is getting nicer and I’ve been enjoying taking Evelyn on walks after work! She just loves going outside and being nosy! We are very much looking forward to the coming summer months to spend time with her and see all her new developments. We are also VERY excited for the arrival of Evelyn’s cousin, Austin who should be here on or around June 17th!!!
Much planning and preparing is in the forefront though as Evelyn’s first birthday (May 20th) and first birthday party (May 29th) are just a little over a month away!! Where did the time go!!!

Sooo...
Ok, from what I have heard you have to 'register' to be able to comment on this blog. So, I guess all my 'readers' out there get a pass...for now. Sign up and comment!
That is the least of our news....
It finally happened...Evelyn said 'Momma'.....loud and clear. It happened this past weekend (March 09) and omg...I could have died. So sweet! Of course, I teared up and the best part about it..she kept saying it!! She has always known her 'Momma' as well as her 'Daddy'....and I'll be fair...she has been saying 'Da-da' for a little bit now. But, let me tell you, as a first time mother...there have been no other sweeter, most precious words uttered in my life. It was awesome.
She has been saying 'Momma' now on a daily basis and she knows what it means. When she wakes up in her crib (of course after minutes of 'playing')..we hear 'Momma...Momma...Momma"...OR when she wakes up scared...bad dream or something...we hear "Momma...Momma...Momma"! Tell me, how do you not run to that!!!! Not to fear..she does say "Da-da" as well...but..its more Mommas!! lol :)
Evelyn is now an avid crawler as well...on all fours and in and out of every room in the household! She has also started pulling herself up onto tables and furniture which prompted Jay and I to take some safety action with outlet covers and table-end cushions.
We have to start mixing some more table food (textures) into her diet so we can gradually ween her of the baby food. This is going to take sometime because 1) Evelyn had an 'episode' when we took her out to dinner...her first real throw up! Early that day I had given her the first grilled cheese sandwich to try and later that night Jay and I and Evelyn of course went to dinner with Nana and Poppa...all was well until after the salad course left the table. Evelyn turned into the exorcist!!! OMG.....I have never seen projectile vomit like that! I know even reading about it is gross..but TRUST ME...if you were there and got to smell that curdled cheese all over me....it's a different story! It was crazy and I was def. scared because this was something 'new.' We got through it though and unfortunately the same thing happened the following Monday..all over our kitchen floor. I had learned there was a stomach bug going through daycare so I guess my little pumpkin picked up something! And, it was a good reason to mop the kitchen floor! Happy to say she is at full 100% health right now and growing more and more by the day!!!
Looks like we are going to have to reschedule the date of her first birthday party from May 22 to May 29 only because the city pavilions do not open until Memorial Day weekend. O'well though! We will give our family and friends their first cookout and party of the summer! All in honor of our precious pumpkin who be a whole 1 years old!!!

P.S.
Ummmmm.....can you guys please 'comment' on these blogs or what? Grandmas, Grandpas, Nanas, Papas and Aunts and Uncles.....it's important for when Evelyn will read this one day she gets some 'input' for not just Mommy! You guys used to do it all the time! So, if you are reading this....and from here on in....I expect a 'comment' on each blog! (or I will stop blogging!!!!!....Not really...but I would love for Evelyn to hear from the rest of her family to throughout the years...yes, years people...this blog is for the long haul.....it is my 'baby book' for my BABY! So comment already!
9 months and counting!!

So...my little pumpkin pie! Went for her 9 month check up on 2/25/10....and she now weighs 18lbs and is 29 inches! So since the last time she has gained almost 2 pounds and grown almost about an inch! Happy to report her head size is the same too!! She is 'perfect'...and I am quoting the pediatrician on that one!
Evelyn is getting over a nasty cold! One that brought not only a runny nose and heartbreaking cough, but also a fever....I called the peds office a couple times but she never hit the point that we had to bring her in. Thank Gawd for Baby Tylenol! But seriously, it was so depressing and literally broke us to see her have this horse little cough, sneeze all the time and have the chills to the point where she would shake. I would have given anything to take that from her....and I mean ANYTHING...cut my arm off so my baby doesn't have to hurt would be without a second thought. You don't realize these things until your a Mom (or a Dad) ...so now, looking back I guess Jay and I thank our Moms (and Dads) for more than we will ever know....and we are just beginning to learn...
But, good to know, that she has been good to go for about a week or so now. Still got that snotty nose, but we can handle it!
She is just starting to kind of crawl on all fours...every time she tries though she ends up on her belly and does the army crawl, but she can get from room to room on her belly with no trouble so Jay and I are always on the look out!
She started using this little Lion Walker thing that my parents got her for X-mas to help her learn to walk. It was BEYOND precious her first time. She didn't realize that while holding the

So, we stood her back up and put her little hands on the holder thing and let me tell you.....tears, tears, tears! She was just standing there, whimpering...holding onto the lion...and when it (she) would move forward, she would cry a little harder BUT she would take a step..so it was "cry" then "step" then "cry" then "step" .......too funny.....too precious...we love every minute!!!
Evelyn has been progressing so well, its hard not to take a step back and realize how much she is growing up! We are just enjoying every minute with our miracle baby!
Next up we are going to pick up her big girl car seat as she has outgrown the length of her current baby carrier. We already got one seat from Jay's parents for xmas, but with daycare we need two. So, Evelyn and I are going to make a trip to Babies R Us so I can test some out and put her in them and ....I'll be nice, and let her tell me which one she likes best (aka..which ones she throws up in! LOL)
She'll be walking in no time I'm sure! She is almost to the point she can pull herself up to a standing position from sitting from an object (table, crib) from sitting so it's only a matter of time!!
It's crazy how fast this is going! We are throwing ideas around for the 1st birthday! We know we are going to do a big pavilion party with all our friends and family...now its just the details!! AKA..I feel like I'm planning a wedding reception!! LOL

MAJOR updates...
So...last I told you Evelyn could make her way from room to room with her little walker. Well, this past Sunday, our little pumpkin started CRAWLING!!!! It was literally out of no-where! I set her on her little mat to play with toys, walked away (because you can still can when they are stationary) got the towels from the dryer and walked back into the living room and OH MY GOD...she was at least 4..maybe 4.5 feet from her starting point! So, of course I was like "how did you get here?!" Dropping the towels, I backed her up and put an 'object' in her path...(OK the object was a water bottle..but hey, that's one of her favorite things to chew on! only the best for our pumpkin!!)..So Evelyn then rolled on over to her tummy and next thing I knew she was dragging herself to it!!! I know 'dragging' may not be the same as 'crawling' but still she was making ground!! And by ground, I mean if I put her at one end of the living room she can make it to the other side! So, that is crawling in my book!! So crazy! I 'yelled' for Jay and at the same time broke out in tears! Who knew crawling would bring me to tears!!! I was so excited for this next step but at the same time so sad because its just another reminder that she is growing up and getting bigger. And now, we are facing the crazy task of dealing with a child on the move. First thing, it's time for a baby gate. Second thing...she never wants to be held anymore! Heartbreaking I tell you!!!! Daddy's first thought of Evelyn on the move: "She's going to be in a lot of sh*t!" LOL...and he wasn't kidding. A day or two later, Evelyn was in the living playing away and I went into the next room to grab some paperwork (I was doing some filing) and I come back in and she was eating marriage certificate!!! LOL! You can't leave them for even one second now!!!
But it gets better!!!!
So tonight, dealing with Evelyn being on the move, etc...it was time for a bath. While I get her bath ready I sit her in the crib with some toys to occupy her while I'm doing this. So I fill the tub and set up the 'bath stuff.' I walked back into the nursery and guess who is STANDING in her crib!! I almost died!! First off, I was a little scared because I had "those thoughts" run through my head..aka "what if she fell over when I was filling the tub?!?" But then the fear turned to excitement and I called for Jay. He comes running up (probably thinking something was wrong) and he turns the corner and it took him back for a minute! "Pumpkin, what you doing?!?" he asked her!! Then we thought, OK...get the camcorder...but lets try to get her on video from sitting to the standing position. Knowing she might not do this while we were standing in front of her with a camera, we sat her down and walked out of the room to hide with the video recorder. Well, yeah, that didn't' go so well....we walk out of the room and Evelyn breaks into a sobbing fit! "Where are you going mommy and daddy!" We waited a minute to see if she would do anything...each of us peaking around the corner...but to no avail...pumpkin just wanted her mommy and daddy. So ,while we know she can do it, we have yet to show you any proof. But one thing is for sure...the crib mattress is getting lowered TOMORROW!!! Pumpkin - We love you so much, but please! slow down already!!!

Surprise!!

OK, well it's no surprise that Evelyn can move around in her little walker...but what was a surprise.....the other night Evelyn was happily watching television the living room, chewing on toys, etc...having a good ole' time. I was in the kitchen finishing up the dinner dishes and next thing I know, I turn around and there she is!! Hello!?!? She can now go from room to room which she likes to do to follow Mommy and Daddy around now, or she goes off exploring by herself like the house is brand new or something! Next investment -- a baby gate! The pumpkin is on the loose!!!! (my apologies now to the kitties...may God be with you.....LOL)

8 months = countdown to 1?!?

I know, I know...it's been a few weeks since my last post (actually if you want to be totally corny...I haven't posted since last year...HA!)
Well, what can I say, the pumpkin is 8 months tomorrow and she keeps us pretty busy!!
Her top two teeth have broken the skin (that was fun) and they are very visible -- so much so that Daddy sometimes refers to her as 'big tooth'...what a mean Daddy!!! LOL. It's all in good fun. (Although I have my own problems...she likes to rub or grind her two top teeth on the two bottom ones...and oh my...egghhh...getting the heebie-jeebies just talking about it! I can hear Jay "now, you know what I feel like" b/c my husband says that I also grind my teeth!)
The Pumpkin is now semi-mobile. She can't crawl forward, she can kind of scoot backward, but she's best at what Jay and I call 'helicoptering.' Basically, she lies on her stomach and moves in circles like a helicopter and can actually move herself from point A to point B, it just take a little time to get there...but it's so cute!
As much as I don't want to jinx it, I can report that for the past few nights Evelyn has been sleeping completely and consistently through the night! (no more 4 a.m. bottle!! woohoo!) Who knows if this will last or stop when her next growth spurt comes, but Jay and I know she can do without that bottle now. We might have to cry-it-out a couple nights if my heart can take it (probably not though...lol).
Believe it or not, we are actually starting plan Evelyn's 1st Birthday! What?!?!? I can't believe I just wrote that! Four short months from now, our little pumpkin will turn 1! It really does go fast. A week or so ago a new baby (2-month old boy) started at Evelyn's daycare and that was hard to swallow...she's not the baby anymore :(
Well, at least she'll be our baby forever.

Merry Christmas!!!!!

Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve started off at Evelyn's Nana and Poppa's house (aka - Jay's parents) where we had a great family feast complete with Evelyn's Aunt Jennifer (who's going to be a new mom herself in 2010!!! yay...I say boy.....lol) and Uncle Larry (of course Nana, Poppa, Mommy and Daddy were there too....and let us not forget Cocoa Bean...) While us adults dined on homemade pierogies, ham, etc...we gave the pumpkin little pieces of homemade mac-n-cheese to try along with some canned green beans (up until now Evelyn has pretty much only had the canned mushed stuff)...well, the pumpkin gave it her best effort, but unfortunately after dinner was over and while we all thought she did good with her first table finger foods...when we unhooked her tray we found most of it had fallen into her lap! O'well, practice makes perfect...cheerios here we come!
After dinner we all kind of lounged around and Evelyn and I even took a quick nap together upstairs by the Christmas tree. (it's our little snuggle naps that truly make me tear up b/c I just cherish them so much...she's so precious when she sleeps and snuggles into me....I just love it!) So, when we woke up, we were a little rushed b/c we were running late for our trip over to Grandma and Grandpa's (aka my parents) for their Christmas Eve get-together...plus Evelyn had a play-date with her cousins, Bri-Brin and AJ (who was also celebrating his 1st xmas). So with a quick change into her "special Xmas jammies and Santa's hat we were off!
When we got to Grandma's much to everyone's surprise...'oh my, Evelyn and AJ are wearing the
same pj's...they're twins...how cute, how precious...." o'yeah...just the reaction my sister and I were looking for when we planned this out a week ago! LOL :) All the kiddies looked so comfy and cute in their pj's....and little Brianna was just SO excited for presents!!! "Presents for ME!!!!!!" We had a nice time hanging out with the family! Evelyn and AJ spent a lot of time playing on the floor...drooling all over the place...eating and sucking anything they could get their chubby little hands on! At one point, AJ had enough of sucking on his own foot, that he found Evelyn's and thought 'why not!' LOL...they are just too cute!!

Around Evelyn's bedtime it was time to head back to Nana and Papa's b/c that's where we were spending the night. The pumpkin was pretty beat by the time we got there, so after kisses and good-nights from the family it was off to dreamland for our little girl........
Christmas Day
Christmas Day started off a little earlier then I was hoping....'bout 7-7:30 a.m. Evelyn was up and at em'....and hungry! Luckily, I was able to convince Daddy it was 'his turn' so Mommy got to
enjoy a few more hours sleep! (A few years down the line and this won't be the case as she's jumping on the bed yelling at us to get up!!) When we all did make our way to the living room, we got some presents in-front of Evelyn and she tore into them like a 5-year old.....ummm.....yeah, right...more like she picked one up and sucked on the corner until the paper was no longer there!! It was too precious. She was all excited though and in good spirits...probably because we were all smiling like fools just watching her eat paper (who knew it could be so entertaining!) Evelyn's first round of gifts included toys that light up and make sounds -- much to her pleasure...and required assembly -- much to daddy's displeasure! She got clothes and even her big girl car seat! After we finished opening up gifts at Nana and Poppa's we relaxed and just enjoyed the rest of the morning/afternoon.

Around 1 or so we headed home where much to Evelyn's surprise...Santa had also stopped there!! But since we had to head to my parents house, the presents had to wait! We quickly unpacked all of Evelyn's 'carry-on' only to re-pack it to head to my moms. Once we got ourselves ready we were back and the sleigh and off to grandma's house!!
Once we arrived, we found out Evelyn's cousin, Brianna, who was so excited for 'presents for me!!!'...well, it wasn't the crazy about presents for her and the tear-open crazy-fest we thought it
might be at the Price household that morning didn't happen....No, Bri-Bri would open 5 presents or so then get bored...want to play with her gifts as she opened....wanted to play with her brothers gifts too...needless to say when my sister arrived at my parents, they too still had presents at home that had to be opened! The point of me telling you this...well, usually at my parents house we have dinner first, then open gifts. Well, we thought it best if we went ahead and started opening up some stuff while the final preparations were being made for our yummy prime rib dinner (nice job Dad!). Of course we had to take some pics of the kids in-front of the tree with all the presents!! Mom went way over-board as she always does!!!

So, we opened some gifts....had dinner...then back to gifts...and well, that was enough for pumpkin....next thing I know she passed out in the chair with daddy! too cute :)

I can't believe how much stuff she has!! (and where am i going to put all of it!!)
Believe it or not...we weren't done yet Remember, we still had to have our own Christmas with pumpkin at our house! But, by the time we got home on Christmas night, Evelyn was done like dinner...so it was off to bed with gifts still wrapped under the tree just waiting for her!
The Day After
The next morning, Jay had to work so I had my own little Christmas with Evelyn that morning (Jay didn't mind...the thought of sitting through pumpkin eating her way through the paper was

So pumpkin and I had our day-after-Christmas morning present-fest and much to her delight...more paper and more bows to suck on and eat were at her finger-tips! We spent the rest of the day going through her now mountain of new toys..making sure to hold everyone...put it in the mouth..then as always, look for mommy's cell phone b/c that is her favorite "toy" to drool all over!
Later on that evening, it was off to Jay's Grandpa's house so Evelyn could see her great grandparents and enjoy a holiday dinner with them! Ok, well we enjoyed dinner...pumpkin enjoyed the few pieces of grape that would make their way into her mouth. (that 'sour' face is priceless!...maybe a little mean....but priceless!) Evelyn got even more clothes which means her wardrobe now exceeds mine...actually i think that happened the day she was born and a flood of pink came into our home...lol.
Sunday
Finally, Sunday rolls around...a day of rest...ha! yeah, right! Sunday was Christmas with Jay's
oldest sister, Karen and her family (Hubby Luca, Luca Jr. Lina and Lilianna) along with our nephews Brandon and Cammy (Jay's brother Jeremy's children). Ages in the household ranged from pre-teen to pre-crawl and what a crazy madhouse it was!! Yelling, laughing, playing!! Then came present time....all the kids got their presents lined up in-front of them and it was like ready, set, go and paper went flying!!! As you can see by the picture...even with gifts right in front of her, pumpkin would still rather eat Mommy's cell phone!! lol. It was a great day with family! We had so much fun and Evelyn looked absolutely adorable in her little Bills Cheerleader outfit (although it didn't help them..they lost that day!)
Finally, Sunday rolls around...a day of rest...ha! yeah, right! Sunday was Christmas with Jay's

Overall, it was a great first Christmas for Evelyn and for Jay and I with our pumpkin!! We can't thank everyone enough for making it so special! We are very much looking forward to the New Year as Evelyn will celebrate her 1st birthday!! It's unreal that she will be one-whole year in just 5 short months!!! Where did the time go! We are blessed to have such great family and friends and to have our healthy, happy pumpkin in our life!
Happy New Year everyone!!!
